What Is the Cross-Cultural Leadership Retreat?

Retreat participants pose with their certificates

This retreat is for international undergraduate/non-degree students who want to learn to become more effective in international environments. This highly interactive, high-energy retreat becomes a living laboratory of what it takes to work with people from vastly different cultures. You will meet other students, begin friendships with people from all over the world, and discover your own leadership potential.

A cutting edge intercultural leadership model, Personal Leadership, will be used to develop participants’ cross cultural skill-set needed for professional and personal lives in the 21st century.

You Will...

  • Develop cross-cultural communication skills
  • Develop cross-cultural leadership skills
  • Develop a living laboratory on campus
  • Develop friendships
  • Highly interactive
  • High energy

Past Participants Say:

"I would definitely recommend the retreat to other people because the environment is so cross-cultural, diverse and inclusive. The environment at the retreat is so cool to see, it feels almost UN-like or world peace-fostering. Also, I felt that the retreat forced us to think about things that we never really think about in our daily lives."

"[I liked] the "intensity", i.e. there was a good, high tempo of excercises and discussions. We did not get bored."

"I think setting the tone at the beginning of the retreat really helped participants focus on the purpose and to be open with each other. It was great to make time to hear stories from other participants' experiences. Knowing that others are facing the same challenges helps me feel less less alone. I also enjoyed doing crafts!"
