International Buddy Program

New undergraduate or non-degree international students can apply for the International Buddy Program before the fall and spring semester. You will be matched with a current University of Minnesota student who can serve as your mentor and provide guidance during your transition. IBP exists to help you make friends and succeed in your first semester at the UMN.

Global Gopher Events

Global Gopher Events is a series of workshops and events to help you and other international students prepare for the school year, connect with campus resources, and visit exciting locations on campus and throughout the Twin Cities.

Global Gopher Academy

The Global Gopher Academy introduces new international students to other U.S. and international students, U.S. culture, and life at the University of Minnesota through workshops, training sessions, tours, and fun activities. This six-day program transitions students to their new life in Minnesota and provides important skills and experiences to help them succeed both in and out of the classroom.

Global Gopher Community

The Global Gopher Community brings international and domestic undergraduate students together into a single Living Learning Community where residents have a global experience through interactive cross-cultural learning.

New International Student Seminar (NISS)

The New International Student Seminar (NISS) is an opportunity to reflect on how your experience is going at the UMN, learn about campus resources, and connect to ISSS Academic Counseling staff. NISS launches in October for students starting in Fall semester and February for students starting in Spring semester. 

International Parent Orientation
