International Student and Scholar Services hosts an orientation for J-1 exchange visitors in the Professor, Research Scholar, and Short-term Scholar categories.
The orientation is an opportunity to learn about immigration information, campus resources, and to connect with new international colleagues and ISSS staff.
ISSS advisors are dedicated international education professionals with years of experience at UMN and other institutions, who can help you navigate your adjustment to our campuses. We strongly encourage new scholars and employees to attend. Participation is recommended after arrival to Minnesota and within 2 months.
Orientations are held in person in 110 Heller Hall, just down the hall from the main ISSS office on the Twin Cities campus. ISSS holds an online webinar every semester to reach scholars at every UMN system campus.
