Introduction to International Student Advising

ISSS's advisor training is intended for new or seasoned academic advisors, Graduate Program Coordinators, career counselors, and student services staff who work with international students. It is offered twice a year.

Content includes: 

  • Part one (45 minutes)
    • International students at the University
    • International Student and Scholar Services overview
    • Arrival processes and communications
  • Break/tour of ISSS for in-person participants (30 minutes)
  • Part two (45 minutes)
    • Decoding the advisor role in immigration
    • How students maintain legal status
    • On-campus and off-campus work options
