Black Identifying International Student Community and Leadership Award Available

International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) has two $1,000 scholarships to award from the Twin Cities International Student Scholarship Fund on behalf of Kabir Mohamed’s work around equity and inclusion. This award recognizes outstanding international student leaders who have made a significant impact in supporting, elevating, and internationalizing their communities, especially to our Black Identifying international student community at the University of Minnesota. 

Application criteria and requirements:

  • Must show in their application statement, how as a leader, they have made a significant impact in supporting, elevating, and/or internationalizing the Black Identifying international student community at the University of Minnesota
  • Has a deep understanding of the Black Identifying international student experience and demonstrates that in their application
  • Their impact shows increased sense of belonging
  • Must be an F-1 or J-1 international student currently enrolled for Fall 2021 semester
  • Can be undergraduate or graduate/professional school student
  • Cannot be Grad999 but can be part-time student
  • Must be in good academic standing
  • Must submit alongside their documents a recommendation letter from a peer, mentor, staff, or faculty that showcases their impact
