Orientation Programs

New International Student Seminar 

Provides an opportunity for new undergraduate international students to assess their own strengths and challenges. Students reflect on their goals, accomplishments and challenges. Students explore strategies and resources to overcome challenges and learn to rely on their strengths to be successful.


International Scholar Orientation Program

Orientates new J-visa scholars and their family members to: living and working in the U.S.; finding and using the valuable resources available at the University of Minnesota and in the Twin Cities; and maintaining their non-immigrant legal status.


International Parent Orientation Program and Chinese Parent Orientation Program

Allows parents of new international students to ask questions to ISSS staff and learn more about the campus. Occurs immediately before or after the two-day OTE Parent Orientation.
