Provides an opportunity for new international students, after they have settled in and been in classes for 4-6 weeks, to assess their own strengths and challenges. Students will have the opportunity to meet students and staff representing various offices at the U, to explore expectations, to come up with strategies and resources to meet their challenges, and to learn to rely on their strengths to be successful.
Orientates new J visa scholars and their family members to: living and working in the U.S.; finding and using the valuable resources available at the University of Minnesota and in the Twin Cities; and maintaining their non-immigrant legal status.
Allows parents of new international students to ask questions to ISSS staff and learn more about the campus. Occurs immediately before or after the two-day OFYP Parent Orientation.
