Finding housing is an important step for living, studying, and working at the University of Minnesota. There are a variety of housing options available to students and scholars both on-campus and off-campus. We assembled the following resources and information for you about housing.

We have also created Online Guides to help you learn more about On-Campus and Off-Campus Housing.

Most international students and scholars arrange housing when they arrive in Minnesota. We recommend that you arrive on-campus three weeks in advance to search for housing and make other arrangements. Before the fall semester, inexpensive temporary housing is available specifically for international students. This will give you time to find the housing situation that suites you best.

Temporary housing is available in the International Reception Center (IRC). The International Reception Center is located in Frontier Hall and Middlebrook Hall and is available starting mid-July. For costs and reservations, please see International Reception Center.

We recommend that you do not sign a lease or contract  before viewing the property. For more information on the legal rules surrounding apartment rental please visit Student Legal Services.

If you have reviewed the information provided and have questions, please contact us.

We wish you a safe travel and look forward to meeting you!
