Information for International LGBTQ+ Students

ISSS supports and welcomes all international students that identify as LGBTQIA+ at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. We provide private services for international LGBTQ+ students, including:

  • Counseling
  • Support
  • Information & resources
  • Referrals

ISSS Staff

Chirayu Dongre

Chirayu Dongre (he/him/his) is our designated counselor for international LGBTQ+ students at ISSS. He arrived in the United States as an immigrant while a high school student. He received a Master of Arts degree in Counseling and Student Personnel Psychology at the University of Minnesota. Chirayu has worked with very diverse student populations, including LGBTQIA students, throughout his career.

Peiying Shi

Peiying Shi (she/her/hers) is an international counselor at ISSS. She was an international student from China at the University of Minnesota, and worked for the Gender and Sexuality Center as the International Student Outreach coordinator during her undergraduate and graduate programs. She has worked with LGBTQ+ students and young adults, providing outreach, programming, counseling, and resource referrals.
