Join the International Buddy Program Leadership Team

Thank you for your interest in the International Buddy Program's Leadership Team. We are not, however, accepting applications at this time.

Administrative Secretary

Coordinate and oversee the communication of the IBP team in order to meet the program vision and goals; responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Record and distribute meeting minutes
  • Maintain updated calendar of:
    • Grant deadlines
    • Newsletters and mass emailing
    • Key due dates
    • Meeting times and locations
  • Coordinate monthly newsletter
  • Event follow-up including publicizing outcomes of events
  • Update surveys and organize focus groups if needed

Public Relations

Develop and maintain a communication strategy for large group outreach in order to meet the program vision and goals; responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Create advertising for events
  • Manage social media
  • Publicize recruitment
  • Create videos for event documentation
  • Maintain historical records, photos and videos
  • T-shirt design and ordering by August 1st

Buddy and Mentor Communication Coordinator

Coordinate and develop peer relationships based on a communication strategy with individuals in order to meet the program vision and goals; responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Maintain mentor training registration and list
  • Summer mentor training
  • Match mentors with buddies (both in the summer and winter breaks)
  • Send all communications to buddies and mentors
  • Ensure communications between buddies and mentors including email check-ins
  • Work with secretary on newsletter content
  • Maintain lists of buddies and mentors on the ISSS server
  • Initiate programming that facilitates buddy/mentor communication

College and Student Group Outreach

Develop and maintain collaborations with external partners in order to meet the program vision and goals; responsibilities include but not limited to:

College-based Initiatives

  • Meet with IBP team members to develop list of good engagement activities¬† within their colleges for first year students
  • Coordinate outreach visits with college liaison to solidify college engagement activities
  • Initiate programming to connect IBP with departments and offices on campus

Student Group Outreach

  • Identify student groups to broaden the IBP network/partnership
  • Seek groups to collaborate with on programming
  • Keep up to date about events on campus, and choose one each month to promote and attend with IBP members

Event Coordinator

Develop events that provide a sense of community and belonging in order to meet the program vision and goals; responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Co-coordinate large groups events with program coordinator and other team members
  • Develop agendas, team member coordination and logistics for each event
  • Facilitate small event proposals and grants
  • Liaison to SUA:¬† attend pre- and post-event evaluation meetings
  • Help ISSS staff coordinate the New International Student Seminar Program
  • Propose new event ideas/changes to existing events

Treasurer

Coordinate all budgeting and financial components of the program in order to meet the program vision and goals ; responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Work with Program Advisor and Coordinator to develop budget spreadsheet
  • Apply for grants (MISA, SUA, etc.)
  • Fill out PCard or other financial forms within 2 days of an event and hand them to the Program Coordinator for approval
  • Keep up to date with grant application deadlines
  • Research about funding opportunities
  • Research about cheapest options for supplies required for events
  • Responsible for coordinating Student Service Fee proposal for the following year
