Winter Does Not Stop Us

It may be snowy and cold outside, but that does not stop the fun in Minnesota. Whether you enjoy skiing or snowshoeing, attending winter festivals or staying inside for laughs and conversation, there are activities happening all across the state.

Here are some websites with schedules and other great information:

  • Minnesota Department of Natural Resources: Visiting any of Minnesota's parks and lakes is an entirely different experience in the winter. Many parks have rental gear (including skis, snowshoes, and bikes) available at reasonable prices.
  • Explore Minnesota: Whether you want to try new foods, attend a comedy show, or head outdoors, Explore Minnesota has information about how to make the best out of a Minnesota winter. Its website includes an article on "7 Things to Do In Minnesota This Winter" and a complete schedule of events covering all forms of entertainment.
  • Polar Plunge: Want to know what it really means to be cold? Do a Polar Plunge and raise money for a good cause at the same time. Will your friends believe you when you say you jumped into a hole cut in a frozen lake?
  • On Campus: ISSS has plenty of programs and events coming up. Sign up now to participate in a Cross-Cultural Discussion Group, attend a Small World Coffee Hour, and more. Also, if you have any questions, please visit ISSS during Walk-In Hours or make an appointment.

Enjoy the winter!
