Updated Information for Fall 2020

Dear international students,

On Monday, August 24, President Gabel and university leadership presented a plan to the Board of Regents (the University's governing board) to make an adjustment in the fall schedule for starting with online courses for undergraduates for the first two weeks. This proposal was approved. 

The President’s message, as well as the presentation and discussion at the Board of Regent’s, emphasizes the University of Minnesota’s commitment to making decisions that prioritize the health and safety of students and the campus community.

Below are some important items for students to know. Students with individual questions should either contact ISSS (for visa-related matters) or their academic adviser/department (for academic-related items).

Housing Information

Housing and Residential Life (HRL) continues to be open for international students for arrival housing and for those with housing contracts for the academic year. Please review the following links for information , and contact if you have specific questions.

Academic Information

For undergraduate students, the first two weeks will be online for all courses. For Graduate students, the mode of instruction will continue as planned by the faculty and instructors. 

Employment Information

Students with confirmed offers or plans to continue past student employment should contact their employing-departments for information about their position.
