  Dancing What’s There in Black & White- Triple Talaq and Other Issues Impacting Indian Muslim Women

Join Dr. Arshiya Sethi for this talk about a Dance Choreography called “Black & White,” a session that raises questions about the status of Indian Muslim women and the impact on them of the prevailing interpretations of Muslim personal law.

Dr. Sethi, a Fulbright-Nehru Postdoctoral Fellow from India, is an independent scholar and activist who uses arts for activism through the Kri Foundation, her non-profit organization.

  Indian LGBT+ Documentary and Discussion: Summer in my Veins - International GLBTQ Discussion Group

Please join us for a screening and discussion of the first 40 minutes of Summer in my Veins. This documentary is about a gay Indian, Nishit Sharan, who was studying film-making at Harvard and filmed his process of coming out to his mother when she visited for graduation. Nishit was also dealing with the anxiety of having slept with someone with HIV and waiting for the results.

Following the film, Sayan Bhattacharya (a PhD student in the Gender, Women and Sexuality Students Department) will lead a discussion and share their thoughts about the documentary.
